物种特征:描述：中等体型（30厘米）的绿色啄木鸟。

雄鸟顶冠红色，雌鸟黑色；

背绿；腰黄；尾黑；

初级飞羽黑色具白色条纹；

喉皮黄；胸皮黄而具明显的绿色羽缘花纹；

黑色的过眼纹及颊纹杂白；

颊蓝灰。虹膜－红色；嘴－黑色；脚－近绿。

叫声：尖厉的kweep叫声, 渐下抑。

分布范围：孟加拉、东南亚至苏门答腊及爪哇。

习性：见于开阔林地及人工林。于地面、倒木或竹林取食。
